This is a really tasty addition to our steak spice blend range. Full of flavour it makes your ordinary steak extraordinary! Super simple, super fast and great with spicy chips and barbecue beans. Yes i am that philistine!
Nothing wrong with steak chips and beans in my book!
Give it a go! I will show you how to make a simple barbecue baked bean mix to go with this in the recipe. Start with corn on the cob with butter and a little bit of salt and you have a great simple mid week meal ready quicker than you can drink your first gin and tonic!

Ingredients
-
Spice Pantry Canadian Steak Blend (1 tbs per 2 steaks)
2 Steaks (rump, sirloin or Ribeye)
Olive oil
-
Spice Pantry Chip Seasoning Blend
Directions
Let's Prep!
-
Before cooking your steaks, you should tenderise them. The thicker the steak the longer it will take to cook. Some chefs say take the steak out of the fridge half an hour before, others say don’t. We never do.
-
Mix 1 tbsp of Spice Pantry Canadian Steak Blend with the olive oil and cover your steaks in the mixture.
Let's Cook!
Stove Top
-
Add oil to your pan on a medium/high heat. Get it fairly hot but not smoking hot and place your steaks carefully into the pan and cook.
-
Rough guide for steak cooking: 1 minutes each side for blue, 2 minutes each side for rare, 3 minutes each side for medium rare, 4 minutes each side for medium and 5 minutes each side for well done.
-
Whilst cooking the steaks, keep spooning over the juices to make sure they are full of flavour. Feeling indulgent? Add a knob of butter near the end and spoon that all over those big boys!
-
Leave it to rest. Cover forming a tent with foil and just leave it alone for 5 minutes. Its then good to eat, slice, dice and add to a stir fry, steak and chips or what I do and sandwich it in between a crusty baguette with onions, tomatoes and lettuce with a little bit of mayonnaise. Lovely! Enjoy!
Air Fryer
-
Preheat your air fryer for 2 minutes at 200°c, then place your steaks in a single layer.
-
Cook for 6 minutes, turn the steak and cook for another 2 minutes. This will give you medium steaks.
-
Add another 2 minutes for well done.
-
Leave it to rest. Cover forming a tent with foil and just leave it alone for 5 minutes.
Simple Barbecue Beans
-
Add a squirt (or a bit more depending on the amount of beans) of brown sauce and season with salt and pepper, add some Worchester sauce and your done, Simples! I use brown sauce rather than barbecue sauce as I think it tastes better.
Enjoy!

Serve with Chips or wedges, take a look at our Chip Seasoning recipe for perfect crispy healthy chips.
Recipe Note
You can chop up a red or green chill and add to the pan for some extra spice if you wish. It's not necessary but if we’re having a beer watching the football and munching on a big sliced steak baguette with onions we like it hot!
